Welcome...

My new CD “Being Here” will be released at the end of this year. I recorded this collection of original Americana songs with my talented band, Ricky Fataar, Garrin Benfield, Michael Rodriguez, Marc Levine, and George Marinelli. We are all excited about the new music. Look for our schedule of live shows in 2011 and the CD, available December 1st. Please subscribe to receive e-blasts about upcoming events.

Save the date! December 2nd, 2010 we will be putting on our 2nd annual benefit concert for Meals on Wheels of San Francisco at 142 Throckmorton in Mill Valley, CA. Last year’s show sold out quickly so purchase your tickets early. My holiday CD “Christmas on Pine Mountain” is now available and makes a great gift (see below for purchase options). 100% of all proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels-San Francisco.

You’ll notice new photos of my trip to Paris this past September, by Danielle Rubi-Dentzel. Sipping expresso's in the cafes of St Germain, people watching in the Garden Luxembourg, floating down the Seine River on a quiet night with friends, going to art galleries, listening to live music, hanging out in dusty bookstores, visiting some of the most incredible churches…so much inspiration and beauty. Other than my annual trip to Paris in September, and preparing for the Meals on Wheels benefit concert in December, the band and I will go into the studio in January to record the second of two new records, planned releases December 1st, 2010 and April 2010. We are all looking forward to getting back to Pine Mountain Studio in Alexander Valley where the stillness of life takes over and the music happens.

Enjoy the site... and the music!
Michelle

Christmas on Pine Mountain

Christmas on Pine Mountain"Christmas on Pine Mountain" is a benefit CD for Meals on Wheels-San Francisco. The idea for this Christmas record came to me as I was going through a box of old ornaments, remembering the happy Christmas memories of my childhood. I hopes that the songs will bring a bit of holiday cheer and some happiness for the listener. When thinking of Christmas I always remembers my family and especially my Grandmother who put enough love in my childhood to sustain a lifetime. Please remember that every CD purchased will help the people involved with Meals on Wheels in San Francisco. Spread the love...Click to the news page to read a review of this record.

Music: Do you hear what I hear?

No Virginia, not all holiday music is lousy...
by Greg Cahill Pacific Sun

Remembrances of the childhood sounds and smells of the holiday season--Grandma baking cookies and Dad singing his favorite Christmas songs--inspired Bay Area singer and songwriter Michelle Schmitt to record Christmas on Pine Mountain, a heartfelt mix of originals and country-inflected classic carols.

But there's nothing sugary about these songs.

Michelle and her team of engineers have completed her new state of the art recording studio in Alexander Valley called Pine Mountain Studio. Located in Northern California, Michelle and her band enjoy the benefits of getting away from it all and focusing solely on the music. It’s a recipe for more amazing music.

“Being Here" was just recorded at PIne Mountain Studio in August. This is a collection of original Americana songs written and produced by Michelle. Look for a release date near the end of the year. Michelle says, "I have a special place in my heart for the music that inspired me to play guitar and sing when I was a young girl. Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Arlo Guthrie, Buffy St. Marie, Carole King, Jesse Colin Young, and many others."
